Heuvel was born in Kimberley. She spent most of her time growing up in Swakopmund – Namibia and Cape Town – South Africa.
She has set herself on a lifelong journey to learn about the principles of Faith and Fear. There is a real world that we cannot see with our eyes, the Supernatural World. The AGU series is an imagined world based on reality of the Unseen: “We look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are temporary, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” Paul – The Bible
Each and every chapter that is written has to get a “thumbs up” from Martin.
Not only does he fall perfectly into the target audience, but he has the right balance of creative vs critic that I need in order to ensure that I do not stray from the path set out.
Gillian is the first person to read my rough manuscript once Martin and I are satisfied with it.
She wades through my thoughts, ideas and wild imaginations and ensures a consistent and smooth journey from the readers point of view.
Simone is a voracious reader and I value her opinion on how to keep The AGU series authentic and true to my voice.
She is the second person to receive the manuscript before it is sent off to the publish house. She is truly invested in my novels and I appreciate her honesty! “If you let ****** die, I’m not gonna read further.” Simone
Berny admittedly has an obsession for reading every single word, and thus she catches errors and inconsistencies that the professional editor misses, thereby earning herself the nickname “sweeper”.
I would not even consider going into print if Berny hasn’t read it yet.
About the Book
The journey of The AGU started with a dream. I often dream in vividly coloured adventures. Sometimes after waking up I have a sense that the dream that I had just experienced could make for a great book or movie.
Chapter 17 and 18, where Airlia, Arjun and Bedz find Mt. Tong’s shop, is a combination of that dream. Children being able to fliudly move from this tangible world of ours which is ruled and governed by our five senses, into the spiritual realm, where our spirits and intuition usually extends without our physical being.
Have you ever experienced a thought or a premonition, and after it comes into reality, you used these words “I have no idea how I knew” or “something just told me” or “I felt like I should go”.
There is a whole world and space that surrounds us but we don’t flow into it, yet it often leaks into our reality. Well, shifting between these two worlds deliberately, and then being able to affect our lives from within the spiritual realm, this is the premise that The AGU is based on.
The AGU:
Akmon, leader of the Dark Elders, is determined to beat prophecy. Fueled by the fact that he has achieved the impossible by stealing the Orb from the Charkan’s Elders, he has managed to shift the balance of power in favour of the Dark Kingdom. Giving them the upper hand over the Kingdom of Light and all its prophecies. Now all he needs to do is to find the New Agu to wield the Orb.
Airlia is one of five young people whose lives are turned upside down on that fateful day when the Fallen Angels start to round up children in search of the New Agu. She, along with Arjun, Marcus, Shantee and Bedz are reluctantly drawn into a prophecy which pits the Kingdom of Light against the Dark Kingdom. They are the Elements at the center of this epic adventure.
Even though they feel overwhelmed and ill-equipped for the task that lie ahead, they agree to train with the Charkan Elders. Each one of them must learn the rules and laws that govern the world of the Unseen. For this will be the training ground to discover and grow their supernatural powers. Here they will find out if the gifts that the Creator placed secretly within them is enough to defeat the Kingdom of Darkness.
Now, if the true power of a prophecy lies in its belief thereof, then this also means that each Element must pair up with a Guardian of the Creator’s choosing, to ensure the success of this mission. Here is where things go slightly pear-shaped as both Elements and Guardians find navigating their relationship with each other a challenge all on its own. Never mind being part of a world transforming prophecy.
